Enrichment classes provide different programming options at each grade level and students rotate through four different enrichment classes for the year, one each quarter. Class meets every day of that quarter including Wednesdays. If a student is in a lab class to accelerate a specific content area learning (Math Lab or ELA Lab), they may stay in that enrichment for more than one quarter if they are making progress and continue to need that level of additional teaching. Enrichments by grade level are:
5th: Library Skills, Human Body, Book Club, A.C.T., ELA Lab, Math Lab
6th: Coding, Movement, Mars, Poetry, ELA Lab, Math Lab
7th: Modern Music, Wellness, Behavioral Economics, Community Projects, ELA Lab, Math Lab
8th: Environmental Ed, Lego Robotics, Community Arts, Global Issues, ELA Lab, Math Lab
Class lists for enrichment classes are created using various sources including teacher feedback and student needs. Middle School students benefit from being exposed to many types of learning experiences and career paths to help them develop their interests during a time when their identity is still forming. If you have ideas for enrichment classes that we could be offering at BMS, feel free to share them with Principal Ellsperman.
