Every fall, BMS holds student-led conferences where students and their crew teacher meet with parents to discuss their progress in the first quarter and set goals for the remainder of the year.
These conferences are incredibly important to your student's progress. They have worked hard in the weeks leading up to the conference to reflect on their report card, prepare samples of their work, and create a binder of information to discuss with you. These student-led conferences build student ownership in their learning, and we strive for 100% participation by family members.
Because we do understand that parents sometimes want to talk with core teachers, we have also provided an open-house with teachers on the afternoon of Nov. 1. Please call the front office (384-5900) to schedule your time with a particular teacher. Please also know that you can reach out to a teacher with a concern or question at ANY time of year.
Read on to learn more about this national best practice for student conferences, why we do it, and how you can be a pivotal part of the process.
