Since 1995 the Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork School District has worked to make sure that Every Student can succeed Every Day. During its 20 years, they have helped students and their families overcome a variety of non-academic barriers to success. By helping families to access supports for basic needs such as food, clothing, rent and utility assistance; dental, vision, medical and mental health; parenting, and enrichment; the Family Resource Center has contributed to the success of tens of thousands of RFSD students.

School-Based Health Clinic
The School-Based Health Clinic offers a variety of health services for students ranging from mental health to dental care. The School-Based Health Clinic has an office in our school and connects students to medical, dental, nutrition, and behavioral health services. For example, students are able to get a sports physical, have a dental cleaning and exam, and/or get a throat culture right in our school. We are thankful to have Ivy Hansen, Paula Casper, Lilia Larkin and Kathy Johnson taking care of our students with such expertise and supplementing the services of our school nurse's office.
For more information, call the BMS front office at 384-5900.
Health Office and School Nurse
Basalt Middle School's Health Office is run by nurse Carol Maner and school health aid Chirsley Niebla. The Health Office sees sick students and stores daily student medications as needed.

For over 40 years, the Buddy Program has been serving youth in the Roaring Fork Valley community. The Buddy Program supports our students in a variety of ways. They match recommended students with adult volunteers at school or in the community. Additionally, they provide high school buddies for middle school and elementary students through the peer-to-peer program. Finally, they offer summer camps and monthly activities to expose youth to outdoor and experiential opportunities in order to develop critical life skills. Students who participate in the program have shown improvements in self-esteem, decision making, academics, and relationships. They also often return to BMS as big buddies themselves and assume leadership roles in their community.
