Gifted & Talented
Our gifted and talented program defines gifted learners as “those whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special provisions to meet their needs.” Our gifted students are clustered in literacy and math, and our gifted coordinator provides classroom teachers with materials and professional development to provide the necessary rigor in these areas. Our gifted learners historically register high growth compared to state averages, and many of their learning goals exceed the expectations of state standards. In math, most of our gifted students enter high school prepared for coursework above the 9th grade level. We also have programs designed to meet the social and emotional needs of gifted learners, as well as extracurricular programming such as Brain Bowl and the Spelling Bee.
