BMS Front Office
Karen Hillebrand, Attendance / Student Secretary
Karen Hillebrand is the oldest of ten siblings. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and has lived in Colorado since 1975. Both her daughters, born 20 years apart, went through the Basalt school system. One is the financial director for LCCC College and the other is a teacher at Blue Lake Preschool. She has two grandchildren as well. When not in BMS' front office, Karen enjoys hiking, walking, boating and also serves as president of the board for Basalt Regional Library.

Laurie Taylor, Financial / Student Secretary
Financial Secretary Laurie Taylor grew up in San Diego and moved to Colorado in 1975. She began working at Basalt Middle School in 1997 when her sons (who attended all three Basalt Schools) were in 5th and 8th grade. Today her youngest is an aerospace engineer in Denver and her oldest is an architect in New York. In her free time, Laurie and her husband head to Lake Powell or to the front range to spend time with her beautiful new granddaughter. Contact Laurie if you need assistance "with anything!"

Grace Herrera, Receptionist / Attendance
We are thrilled to welcome Gracie Jimenez to the BMS front office. Gracie was born in Aspen after her family immigrated from Mexico in the 1980s. She has been through all three Basalt schools and graduated from Yampah Mountain High School in 2006. She loves spending time with her two children, one of whom is currently enrolled at Basalt Middle School. When not working, you can find her outdoors, especially running, hiking, and taking pictures of the beautiful scenery or cozying up with a good book.  At BMS, you'll find Gracie manning the front window and helping with attendance and tasks around the front office.
